I grew up watching my mom sew. As I watched her, she would tell me stories about how her grandmother would tell her the same things she was telling me. I was so interested in how they used to use the moccasins. my mom would sit day after day making. I would watch every stitch she made and say to my self ” I am going to do this as soon as I am old enough, not knowing this would become a great passion of mine, as I got older I started to learn by first doing the beadwork for my Mom, she would lovingly say to me ” You will be happy you are learning this, it will help you get what you need around the house for your children.

I learned as time went by I got older and with my Mom would sell or work to local indigenous stores in Winnipeg Manitoba. My Mom worked for one particular store for 40 years before she passed away, when she was too sick to work anymore I took care of her and she cried as she watched me making the moccasins she had shown me how to make. I then took her place after she passed. I worked for the store she worked at for e few years. Then Moved to a different province thinking I was going to leave my art behind but the passion I have for this is something I feel the need to continue. I grew up watching my mom sew.
