Feather Bundles

Dawn Setford, featherwork, graphic arts and design, multidisciplinary, paper making, paper arts, photographer, photography, workshops, facilitator, IndigenARTSY, Indigenous Artists, Indigenous Arts Marketplace, Indigenous Arts Collective of Canada, Pass The Feather, First Nations, Indigenous Art, Aboriginal Art, Indigenous Art Directory

Custom made with your medicine. Beautiful and powerful Feather Bundles can be used in talking/sharing circles for healing and restorative justice as well as for burning medicines (gratitude/smudge/prayer).
A simple bundle is all you need to move the smoke of your medicines around yourself or your environment. Be careful to understand the medicines of the bird before ordering. Some medicines cannot be combined.
Feathers are not owned but retain the spirit of the bird – therefore, they are not ours to sell but only to give.  The cost is for the labour and materials (quality hide, beads, etc.). Hide colours will vary depending on availability and your Feather Keeper will custom make your bundle for you so feel free to add notes on your order. Extra colours available (deep red, blue, off white/beige – add note at checkout. No bundle is ever identical – images are samples and variations. Detailed information can be found at the bottom of this page. Add a Pine Feather keeper here. Add Dawn’s ‘little books’ here. *Feathers cannot be shipped outside of Canada. Each bundle is custom made and can take 4-6 weeks minimum to arrive.

a little book of smudge

Dawn Setford, featherwork, graphic arts and design, multidisciplinary, paper making, paper arts, photographer, photography, workshops, facilitator, IndigenARTSY, Indigenous Artists, Indigenous Arts Marketplace, Indigenous Arts Collective of Canada, Pass The Feather, First Nations, Indigenous Art, Aboriginal Art, Indigenous Art Directory

These little books include gentle medicines, love and gratitude and gently urges us towards our original place ‘of good mind’. A lovely gift and gentle introduction to Indigenous ways of knowing and sharing. They are wrapped with love and each set has a gift inside.

This little booklet gently helps you become familiar with Indigenous spirituality as it pertains to the act of ‘smudging’, ‘communicating and connecting through the smoke of our medicines’, ‘oién:kwara’, ‘atisamán’, ‘eligp’ta’q’. Using our medicines, using our ancestors’ language.

Inside you’ll find my Smudge Prayer, instructions on how to grow tobacco, suggestions on the process of using feathers in smudge, Dawn’s recipe for Cedar Tea and gratitude prose for our four sacred medicines.

If we don’t keep teaching each other, we will forget, and if you’re just returning home to culture and knowledge, this will be a gentle start. “My only hope is that by spreading gratitude and love, we will help each other strengthen our connections with Creation and each other and move forward with new generations of empowered, kind and humble Indigenous spirits”. You asked for books, Dawn made books.

“We must learn to see each other the way the Moon sees the Sun, vastly different and equally important. This way of thinking is important when living ‘with Good Mind’.

This little booklet gently urges us towards our original place ‘of good mind’. A lovely gift and gentle introduction to Indigenous ways of knowing and sharing. They are wrapped with love and each set has a gift inside.

This little booklet gently helps you become familiar with Indigenous spirituality as it pertains to the medicines that the birds carry. Inside you’ll find medicines for the Eagle, Owl, Hawk, Heron, Cardinal and more as well as the directions they hold as Gatekeepers.

The bird is revered for its proximity to Creator. We look up to birds; they inspire us with their ability to rise above the earth and soar above the clouds; disconnected from earthly concerns and crossing into the Spirit World. This ability to travel between worlds is why they are considered a critical connection to Creator, our Ancestors and the people that we mourn.
