Description

#3       Woman in the Water

The first two panels (green/blue) of “Woman in the Water” arrived in February 2019. At the time her story was about letting things go and rising back to the surface.

You can see her swimming, her feet down near the bottom, her hands reaching for the surface with her left hand just piercing the line between Water and Air.

She told me that she was carrying things that were not hers to carry.

She told me that she felt pressure to live up to the expectations of others.

And then she told me that she decided to put those things down, to lessen the burden she took on.

She “let that shit go” and is now rising back to the top where she can breathe again.

She was single for almost two years when her Mate (brown/purple/copper) arrived in November 2020.

Purple and brown are Earth colours, and Earth is the source of all healing.

He was on a healing journey, and now that he is better, he has found his way back to her to support Woman in the Water on her journey.

Woman in the Water (by the numbers)

She is made from alcohol ink, copper wire hooks and pins and three planks of White Ash.

She stands at 138 cm tall by 60 cm wide (mounting board) and 3 cm deep (5 cm with the wall mount).  She weighs about 15 pounds.

She is a triptych. The three panels are interchangeable, with each combination reveal a different image. See the insert for possible combinations for this piece.

She was completed on 16 April 2021 when the wall mount and the Cradle were built.
