Rainbows in Time – Book 1: In Time Saga
Curiosity killed the cat, they say…
They should remind Lee Ann Grayhawk of that when she searches for her missing grandfather’s journal in the attic of their ranch in Mattawa.
They should tell the Métis Search & Rescue expert that frogs do sometimes change into princes – that rainbows do sometimes lead to treasures.
They definitely should warn her about shockingly handsome Coureurs des Bois!
Lee Ann hopes to find clues about Ben Grayhawk’s whereabouts in his diaries, but what she discovers is an incredible tale of Métis and French-Canadian Voyageurs, of Scottish fur traders ambushed for the proceeds of their trade in 1792 Athabasca… a violent storm… a ruined partner… and a rainbow.
She sets out to find Ben – thankful that he left on horseback and not by canoe on the Ottawa River, where no one could keep up with him despite his advanced age. She rides her Appaloosa through a shimmering rainbow and finds more than she bargained for:
Michael Lee Blackwell, a Scot-Blackfoot Métis the Siksika called Ómahkapi’si, (Timber Wolf), the man she was partly named after!
Michael is an independent fur trader whose brigade Lee Ann joins and faces unimaginable perils, fights for her life – and for her heart on their journey from Athabasca to Grand Portage for the North West Company’s 1793 Rendezvous.
A Rainbow in Time, called upon by her ancestral Shamans, leads her to her destiny among the Blackfoot, whose blood she shares, with whom she will take her rightful place In Time.
Mists of Time – Book 2: In Time Saga
A search for her missing grandfather in 2010 Ontario led Lee Ann Grayhawk, a Métis Search& Rescue expert, into 1793 Athabasca. When she married her handsome Scot-Blackfoot fur trader, Michael Lee Blackwell, she did not realize she was really uniting her life with Ómahkapi’si, a Siksika warrior and Head Chief of the Wolf tribe.
Although there is a side of her fierce husband she fears, she supports his alliances with prominent chiefs of the Káínaa, Pikáni, Sarsi and Siksika Nations, and the North West Company. While she abhors violence, Lee Ann understands that Michael, his blood brother Chief White Eagle, and Métis fur trader Julien Montour must lead the war on the Coyote Nation and the Hudson Bay Company in order to protect the Blackfoot’s land, culture, and freedom.
By agreeing to lead the Siksikáwa, her blood people, to a valley far into the Canadian Rockies, she accepts that she will never go back to her own time, her own world. Lee Ann’s search for Ben Grayhawk is over, but her destiny as a medicine woman and wife of a powerful head chief is just beginning, deep into the Mists of Time.
Tides of Time – Book 3: In Time Saga
The Siksika Wolf and Buffalo tribes struggle to keep their loved ones safe and the Blackfoot territory free of tribal warfare, fur trade and whiskey wars, mountain men, settlers, and the hated Coyote Nation.
Michael and Lee Ann prepare their children to carve their own place in history and to fulfill their own destinies as the keepers of the freedom they so nobly defend. At times, they laugh over their family’s antics – at others, they cry for those who make the ultimate sacrifice.
Their journey takes them to Scotland’s Highlands in order for Michael to claim his castle and his title as Lord Blackwell. Lee Ann discovers a side of her big guy that strengthens her love for him. She married the intrepid fur trader, raised her children with the fearsome Head Chief, and now discovers her ancestral Gaelic heritage with her noble highlander.
Sadly, not everyone returns to their paradise in the Rocky Mountains. Lee Ann’s elation turns to heartbreak under hardships a mother should never suffer. The battle the Blackwell, White Eagle, and Montour clans waged to protect their families, their land, their way of life, and their culture, created a bond they hope will survive the chaotic Tides of Time.
Paths in Time – Book 4: In Time Saga
The Siksika Wolf and Buffalo must come to terms with the unexpected tragedy that shattered their world. The members of the tightly knit clans strive to remain united in their grief despite their conflicting beliefs.
Chief White Eagle and Billy Is-sistsi Blackwell, now Head Chief of the Wolf tribe, seek revenge. They plan to launch a war of extermination upon the hated Coyote and their new allies: the mountain men, the whiskey drovers, and the white invaders.
The war drums thunder across the Niitsitapi territory, calling all allied nations to step onto the warpath. Some pay a high price for doing so while others veer onto forbidden paths. Some embark on new paths leading to the fulfillment of their dreams and ambitions among their people. Some find their soul mates while others’ love is tested mercilessly.
The Shamans are tasked with reaching into the 21st century to protect the Niitsitapi ‘s future. They call upon the rainbows to cross the fragile veil of time, and in doing so, they trigger events that reach far beyond their expectations. The Blackwell, Montour, and White Eagle progenies must carve their own place in their world to fulfill their destinies as keepers of the freedom their parents so nobly defended. They walk difficult paths and have to draw upon their teachings and strongest convictions.
Most importantly, they need to still their hatred and thirst for revenge to honour Michael and Lee Ann’s legacy, and to let their spirits from the Great Sand Hills guide them onto new Paths in Time.
